Cruz Young, a former Chateaubelair Primary School student, will be attending the St Vincent Grammar School. He is the son of Deputy Chief of Port Police Desmond Samuel.
Annique Telemaque will be attending the Girlsâ High School. She is a past student of the St Maryâs RC. Her mother Susan Quammie is a wages clerk at the Port.
Manager of the Port, Paul Kirby, congratulated the students and wished them well in their educational pursuits.
He said the award of scholarships, which started in 1995, is part of the portâs contribution to the welfare of its employees. He said a special award was given this year to Shanique Miller because she is the daughter of a worker who died in an accident at the Port.
Kirby stated that the Port has undertaken the responsibility to finance her education. The scholarships are tenable for seven years.(VM)
