Students flock to apply for College places
Following the release of Caribbean Secondary Examination Council (CSEC) results last Friday, August 22nd, Secondary School students nationwide have been flocking in droves to apply to the post-Secondary institution of their choice.{{more}}
In a press release from the Division of arts, Science and General Studies, the Dean, Kelvin Malcolm, stated that the admission process began on the same day that CSEC results were issued. Malcolm further stated that as part of their commitment to students, â…they wish to counsel students before the start of courses to help them make choices which will result in academic success.â
The qualifying criteria for entry are a pass in CSEC or GCE English and passes in four other subjects documented on the qualifying subject list. The qualifying subjects are Biology, Caribbean History, Chemistry, Agricultural Science (Double Award), Economics, English Language, English Literature, Geography, French, Human & Social Biology, Information Technology, Integrated Science (Single Award), Mathematics, Physical Education & Sport, Physics, Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, Religious Education, Social Studies, Spanish and Visual Arts.
Induction week is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 1st, and classes will begin the following week.
Application forms are available from the college for those who wish to apply. Students will need to produce their results slip in order to collect a form. Upon returning the form, applicants will be designated interview appointments, which began on Tuesday, August 26th. (JSV)
