Storm Halbich does it again
Storm Halbich, of the Windsor Primary School, has copped the second place in the Junior Division of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Associationâs 2008 FCCA Foundation for Childrenâs Essay Contest.{{more}}
Storm tied for second place with Ashley Miller, of the British Virgin Islands, in what has been described as history in the making by the FCCA.
In the letter announcing the winners, FCCA Executive Assistant wrote: âThe similar skills shown in many of the essays led to selecting both two and three way ties for the first time in the competition.â 15 nations around the region participated in this contest.
Storm has won a second prize of US$1,500, and his school-the Windsor Primary School, will also receive US$1,500.
St. Vincent & the Grenadinesâ finalist in the senior division, Elizabeth Rickards, of the Girlsâ High School, will receive US$200 from the FCCA for her efforts.
This yearâs topic was âWhat steps can we take as a destination to make cruise passengers feel more welcome while in port?â
