Social Club assists Kimberly

The Searchlight Social Club (SSC) has once again delivered on its promise to help those in need.

On Monday, August, 25, at the Searchlight offices, Kimberly Shallow was the proud and first recipient of the Rosanna Shallow Scholarship Fund.{{more}}

The beautiful 9-year-old, grade 4 student of the Georgetown Primary School received a quantity of school supplies, including exercise books, school uniforms and shoes, among others.

With a shy smile on her glowing face, Kimberly said that she is excited about going back to school on Monday and is ready for the challenge ahead. “I am excited to go back to learn and become something,” stated Kimberly.

Tragedy struck Kimberly in May 2007 in Sandy Bay when her father shot her and her sister Rosanna, before pulling the trigger and ending his own life. Her sister Rosanna died in the incident. The Scholarship will run for one year.

In May this year, the SSC also donated a food basket to Junior Smart. Smart, whose picture was on the March 6, 2008 cover of the SEARCHLIGHT, newspaper, was at the time preparing for a tonsillitis operation, but was forced to flee the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, along with the other patients and staff after a Bomb threat was made on the institution.

The social club wishes Kimberly all the best in the academic year.
