Dancehall Magistrate, DJ Baff in Heineken DJ finals
The final leg of the Heineken Green Synergy 2008 Disc Jockey and Dancing competition comes off this Sunday at Barrouallie.{{more}}
The winner of this leg will come up against six other local disc jockeys who will try to spin their way into the regional competition. The six who have made it thus far are DJ Stone, DJ Dappa, Kid Supreme, The Dancehall Magistrate, DJ Baff and DJ Kal.
The Dancehall Magistrate and DJ Baff were chosen last Sunday, August 24th, at Rabacca.
During his interview last Sunday, The Dancehall Magistrate, whose real name is Ezra Lampkin, said he has been in the business for over ten years, and commented, âI feel excellent, and Iâm looking forward to the finals because you done hear my name and is me set things straight.â
For his winning performance, The Dancehall Magistrate was presented with a Digicel handset from Marketing Executive at Digicel Edmund Joachim.
The other winner from Sunday, Amron Hector, who goes by the name DJ Baff has been a DJ for two years. He had also competed at San Souci so Sundayâs performance made it his second time vying.
âThe first time I was too hype so I said I had to do something better so I went and did my best; in the finals it will be the best of the best but really I just doing it for fun but I still going to do my bestâ.
The Finals at the Aquatic Club will be held on Sunday, September 7, and will decide who will represent St.Vincent and the Grenadines on the regional level. This year, Heineken Green Synergy is co-sponsored by Digicel, with the finals being held in Curacao. The competition has been around for the last five years. It was won by DJ Ice Kid from St.Vincent in 2004. This time around, a dancing competition has been added to the mix.
