Stubbs to launch Steel Orchestra

Another Steel Orchestra will be launched this Sunday August 17, 2008.

The community of Stubbs is the latest beneficiary of the initiative funded by the Social Investment Fund (SIF).{{more}}

The “South East Steel Orchestra”, featuring a number of youths, will make its debut public appearance, alongside the National Lottery Authorities (NLA) Sion Hill Euphourium Steel Orchestra, at the Stubbs Playing Field, on Sunday, at another “Pan Against Crime” concert. Other performances will come from the Renaissance Dance Troupe, Melvina & Family, Sgt Bread and Shanelle Mc Kenzie.

Addresses will be delivered by representatives of the Police Force, Youlou Pan Movement, Gems, South East Development Incorporated and the Social Investment Fund. Parliament Representative for the area, Hon. Glen Beache, will deliver the feature address.

An exhortation will be presented by Pastor Edward Smith of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

The Pan Against Crime Campaign is being held under the theme, “Play a Pan, Arrange a Song, Build the Mind, Down with Violence and Crime”.
