Woman says accident was demonic attack

A demonic attack is being given as the cause of an accident that occurred last Monday morning.

A woman, who was spared the misfortune of serious injury to her, her two children and a close friend when her jeep ran off the road, is convinced that the accident was an act of Satan – one that she expected.{{more}}

“This was a spiritual thing, no joke, but I know who my God is,” said Annette Samuel.

Samuel, a Welfare Officer at Her Majesty’s Prison, left her Campden Park home in her silver Honda C-RV, which was being driven by her 25-year-old son Nekosta. Her 18-year-old daughter Nekyhile Samuel and Shari Palmer 24, a family friend, were also in the vehicle.

Just as they reached the gap to turn into New Montrose, opposite the Jaycees building, the drama unfolded.

Samuel told SEARCHLIGHT that when her son tried to apply brakes, the jeep picked up a skid and he lost control. She said to avoid a more dangerous situation, he pulled the jeep off the road in an attempt to bank it and bring it to a stop.

It crashed into the wall outside the sewing room of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

None of the occupants in the jeep were seriously injured, but when SEARCHLIGHT caught up with Samuel at the entrance to the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospital, she declared her view that the accident had deeper significance, much deeper than flesh and blood.

“My husband called me last week from the ship (her husband is a Seaman) and told me that I should have a prayer session at our home because he sensed danger was coming our way,” said Samuel, who along with her husband are devout Christians, and attend the Faith Temple Church at New Montrose.

She told SEARCHLIGHT that she is a part of a church prayer group that usually meets on Fridays at the church, but last week she told them to have the session at her home on Saturday, which they did.

She said that the grouped prayed intensely and with a sense of urgency for the safety of her and her children, as she was convinced that the devil was planning something against her family.

“We prayed for my family. We covered the children in prayer because I knew the devil was going to attack, but he won’t succeed,” Samuel told SEARCHLIGHT.

“This is a blatant attack of the enemy.”

Meanwhile, the accident was a moment of trepidation for Susan Burgess, an employee at the sewing room.

She was outside speaking to her daughter on the phone when she saw two men running and looking back.

“I saw the guys running and looking back so I thought it was rain about to come or something, then I heard a loud screech,” Burgess explained.

What followed the screech: the loud bang, the crashing blocks from the wall, clearly explained what had the two men running- they saw the careening jeep and were running to safety.

It was Burgess who called for an ambulance.

While Samuel contemplates the spiritual workings of her near tragedy, police will be continuing their investigations into the physical cause of the accident.(KJ)
