People’s Movement for Change to be launched today

The PEOPLE’S MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE will be launched this afternoon at the Peace Memorial Hall at 5:00 p.m.

According to a release from the organization, persons attending will have the opportunity to hear from some of St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ “most committed and concerned social and political thinkers on why this movement is important for the progressive and sustainable development of our country”.{{more}}

Marlon Stephenson will pay tribute to the trailblazers, past and present, Dr Richard Cox’s address is entitled “A need for change and for the politics of change”, Oscar Allen will draw lessons from the people’s struggles and point the way forward, while Jomo Thomas will answer the question why St Vincent and the Grenadines needs a people’s Movement for Change.

The launch will be chaired by Ronnie Daniel. There will be songs, dance and poetry as well as an extensive period allotted for discussion.

The organizers are inviting residents to “Come let us begin an open and honest dialogue about the difficulties confronting our country and the opportunities arising out of these conditions. We the people hold the key to all of our problems and your presence will help to continue the journey of enhancing critical consciousness and making positive change for the benefit of this nation.

“Only we the people can determine what kind of movement our country needs, indeed deserves,” the release ends.
