Bishop Ishmael Charles cautions christians

“There are some people who come laughing with you saying “Ah happy fuh yo”, but far from the truth, they lie! Be careful who taps you on your shoulder, shakes your hand, and who congratulates you”.{{more}}

Ministering under the theme “Enlarge My Territory” on Sunday, July 27th, 2008, at the New Life Ministries church at North Union, Bishop Ishmael Charles, a Vincentian now residing in Tortola, delivered a dynamic sermon at a service to mark the church’s 10th anniversary.

He said that many of us cannot attain a life of financial, physical, emotional and spiritual fulfillment because of our choice to listen to people and disregard living by what the word of God has to say.

Bishop Charles advised that in these difficult times, one must remember God’s original promise – what He first spoke to you, and put the word to work. He advised to wait for God’s affirmation and leave all the baggage from the past behind, as one cannot have rosy thoughts about the future when one’s mind is filled with “blues from the past”.

He reminded the congregation that no runner ever runs his race with weights. Therefore, to get to one’s destination, one must “leave your burdens from your past, leave your grave clothes behind”, and stop fighting people, the system and especially oneself.

The Bishop also cautioned Christians to be careful with whom they associate while going through problems, because of their vulnerability at that time. A man might even want to pay your rent or bills, but unsaved men, he advised, do not pay rent for free. Even some “false Christian men” do it, too, he related.

When people try to mess your life up, he advised the gathering to remember the original promise, for God will not break His covenant.(LAJ)
