SVGAFY elects new executive
Last Wednesday, July 16, 2008, the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Agricultural Forum for Youth (SVGAFY), elected a new executive body at its General meeting/Congress. The meeting was held at the conference room of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) office in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.{{more}} IICAâs consultant Philmore Isaacs who welcomed those present and made brief remarks to the delegates chaired the session.
The SVGAFY was established on the 17th of September 2003 at the U.W.I. School of Continuing Studies, and was officially launched in December 2003. It is an affiliate of the Caribbean Agricultural Forum for Youth (CAFY), which is headquartered in Dominica. The CAFY was established with the support from IICA as the Youth Arm of the Regional Alliance for Sustainable Development of Agriculture and the Rural Milieu.

1st Vice President: Ms. Michker Edwards, Lecturer, SVG Technical College, 2nd Vice President: Ms. Federia Richardson, Agricultural Instructor, MAFF, 3rd Vice President: Mr. Anillan Stephens, Student, SVG Technical College. Secretary: Ms.Jennifer Douglas, Standards Inspector, SVG Bureau of Standards.
Treasurer: Ms. Alanda Moses, Student, SVG Technical College, Past President: Mrs. Desserie Balcombe, Farmer Committee members: Mr. Kyron Barker, Project Manager, National ICT Training Project Mr. Ruthvin Harper, Agricultural Officer, MAFF
The SVGAFY is at present developing its work plan for the period 2008/2010 which includes a number of projects such as poultry and rabbit production, assistance to Secondary Schools and the SVG Technical College in Agricultural Science. The executive met yesterday, Thursday, July 24, where these plans were discussed.
