Moorings will help preserve Marine Park
In an effort to further develop the Tobago Cays Marine Park and to make it user friendly, the management of the park is now in the final stage of putting down 32 yacht moorings. It is the view that these moorings will limit damage to the parkâs fragile habitats.{{more}}
According to a press release, the moorings are strategically placed to deter yachts from dropping their anchor too close to the turtle nesting area and the coral reefs, which are two of the many attractions in the Cays.
âWe encourage the use of these moorings, even though they are optional as they are affordable, and help in the preservation of the marine life in the park,â the release said.
The moorings were funded by the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and were installed by the park rangers and Sunsail, the latter of which contributed technical and physical support.
