Canouan getting prepared

In preparation for the 2008 Hurricane Season, the Canouan Disaster Committee began a clean up campaign in Canouan on Monday, May 19, 2008. The cleaning up of the âpondâ, drains and surroundings in Canouan is seen as necessary before the hurricane season, to prevent flooding and breeding of mosquitoes which are common problems experienced by the residents of Canouan.{{more}}
This Clean up Campaign is a collaboration of the community made possible with the support of the Canouan Government School, the general public, contractors and business enterprises in Canouan. This exercise forms part of the Canouan Disaster Committee activities to prepare the people of Canouan for the 2008 Atlantic Hurricane Season which is predicted to be very active this year. Further endeavours are planned continuously throughout the season and beyond.
