Japanese volunteers arrive

Four Japanese Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) volunteers arrived in St.Vincent and the Grenadines on the 24th June, 2008. These volunteers bring the number of JOCV volunteers who have served in St.Vincent to 29.

They will be working with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health and the Environment in the fields of Mathematics, Science, Physical Education and Environmental Education.{{more}}

JOCV celebrates 5 years since it first began its operation in this country in July of this year. During this time, volunteers have provided their assistance in the areas of Education, Agriculture, Fisheries, Ecological Research, Music, Therapeutic treatment and Social development.

These new volunteers will undergo one month training in the language, culture and customs of their host country. Three of them will be teachers at secondary schools and one will be assigned to the environmental services unit. They will work here for a period of two years and are enthusiastic about working and collaborating with Vincentians.
