Storm is SVG’s Condé Nast finalist

The Ministry of Tourism announced on Wednesday that Storm Halbich of the Windsor Primary School has been named St. Vincent & the Grenadines 2008 Finalist in the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s “My Caribbean” Children Essay Contest, Sponsored by Conde Nast.{{more}}

Storm was named the finalist by Conde Nast’s judges out of a total of eight (8) essays that were submitted through the Ministry of Tourism. The essay competition was open to primary school students ages 8-12 and was based on the topic “If you could share a secret about your island with someone visiting for the first time, what would it be?” Essays were judged on creativity, originality, knowledge of the subject/content, grammar, spelling and style/structure.

In October, Storm will participate in the thirty-first (31st) Caribbean Tourism Conference as a finalist among twenty-three (23) other country representatives.The Ministry of Tourism is proud of Storm Halbich and extends warm congratulations to him, his parents and his school on his success.

The Ministry also wishes him continued success at the finals of the contest and thanks all students who participated in the contest this year.

Last year’s finalist was John Rickards, also a past student of the Windsor Primary School. John also followed on become the overall winner of the contest in 2007.
