Six for Courts comedy face-off

Who will be the new King or Queen of Stand Up Comedy in the OECS?

This Saturday, June 21st 2008, at the Aquatic Club, the question will be answered when the best from the OECS region “face-off” for a $40,000 advertising contract – to be next Courts Big prize personality for 2008/2009. {{more}}

Representing St.Lucia is Arlene Renee, Dominica – Christopher Umeri, Grenada – Kereem “Ball Head” Alexis, St.Kitts – Elston Braithwaite, Antigua – Sylbert “Birdman” Gordon and from SVG Shevrell “Candy Man” Mc Millan.

Courts Marketing Executive, Alexis Harry-John, said: “We are extremely happy to be staging a show of such a magnitude for the first time in SVG. On Saturday night, everyone attending the show will witness an elevation of the artform which has always been one of the main objectives of contest”.

Harry-John explained, “From day one of the contest we embarked on taking the artform to a higher level by creating a platform for comedians to showcase their talents. We were cognizant that there are so many precious jewels which needed to be exposed and harnessed across the OECS region”.

Also, on the night there will be special performances from Avenue Dancers, Soca Sensation Bomani, Diva of Soca Music Zolah, Odini Sutherland, Face of Shabeau Winner, also Face of Courts Furniture Fashion Campaign, reigning OECS King of Comedy Maurice Horne, and Nickron Malcolm.

The show begins at 6:30 pm. All proceeds will go to a charitable organization. Courts’ Marketing Executive, Alexis Harry-John, said: “Its an historic event that you do not want to miss, a showcase of class acts and great surprises”.
