One minute’s silence observed for Ralph

20.JUNE.08

“A veritable treasure trove of knowledge and experience has been lost to the Carnival fraternity, especially to the masquerade component.”

That is how Hugh Raguette, Chairman of the Carnival bands Association (CBA), expressed the deep sense of loss felt by the CBA at the passing of legendary masquerade band leader and Mas maker Roy Ralph.{{more}}

At its general meeting held on Tuesday, 17th June, 2008, a minute’s silence was observed by the CBA in memory of the late great Roy ‘Dragon’ Ralph, whose exploits in the field of Mas are well documented for posterity. He will be greatly missed, particularly by the Dragons Cultural Organisation and Mirage productions, to which Roy devoted the last forty (40) years of his active involvement in the masquerade art form.

Meanwhile, the CBA is deeply concerned about the current health of mas legend Edison ‘Sheggie’ John and is closely monitoring the situation, but is hopeful that he would make a full recovery.
