Karib Cable urges youth to be ‘green’
To commemorate Earth Day, Karib Cable donated 36 trees to the Bishopâs College Kingstown.
With their theme âPlant a tree today, feed a child tomorrowâ, the Cable TV provider also donated trees to a number of primary schools in Kingstown.{{more}} Present at the Bishopâs College to collect their trees last week Monday were the Petersville Primary, St Maryâs RC and the Kingstown Anglican School.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Karib Cableâs Chief Accountant Sharon Haynes said that her company wants to inspire students to get involved in planting and taking part in the Earth Day celebration. She noted that Karib Cable will âMonitor the progress of the trees so that our young people will stay engaged in the act of agriculture and get motivated to help provide food for themselvesâ.
In his remarks, Agriculture Minister Montgomery Daniel said he commended and congratulated Karib Cable for the initiative. He said that he would ensure that his Ministry âassists in the general care of the plantsâ.
Chief Education Officer Susan Dougan urged the students to show appreciation for the plants by taking care of them. Dougan congratulated Managing Director of Karib Cable Jankie Glass and her team âfor coming forward to sponsor this worthwhile initiativeâ.
Also making brief remarks were Managing Director of Karib Cable Jankie Glass and Taiwanese Ambassador Jack Cheng. (VM)
