The band, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, will jump start their production this Easter Monday, March 21st, at a launch to be staged on the grounds of the Bishop’s College Kingstown, from about 3 p.m.

Among the activities planned is the modeling of costumes from “Shanghai Nights”. The 12-section presentation, designed by Ossie Constance, depicts the nightlife of Shanghai, China’s largest city.

The launch will also feature a showing on big screen tv of the band’s past mas productions.

Bantan Bacchus, an Executive member of the band, said that this year, Digicel Nelson Bloc is celebrating in every way they can, so that all revelers will enjoy themselves and have a wonderful time.

Bacchus said that the 12 sections from which patrons will choose are: “House of Flying Draggers”, “The Ying and the Yang”, “New Year’s Festival”, “Lantern Festival”, “Jadettes”, “Silk Traders”, “Fireworks”, “Marihong”, “Ladies of the Night”, “Opera” and “Imperial Guards”.

In 1983, Nelson Bloc emerged on the Carnival scene with a presentation called “Excerpts from a Chinese Movie”, hence their decision to present another Chinese theme for their 25th anniversary. (VM)
