Agricultural Exhibition set for October 5 to 12
Preparations for the hosting of the National Agricultural and Agro-Based Industrial Exhibition, as well as the Caribbean Week of Agriculture, got started in earnest this week, with the formation of committees mandated to making the events highly successful.{{more}}
On Monday, a meeting among stake holders in the various ministries, the media and private sector was convened with Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, to discuss the way forward for the events slated for October 5th to 12th.
The agricultural exhibition, which takes place every five years, runs from October 9th-12th, and the week of agriculture, which sees the gathering of agriculture ministers from Central America and the Caribbean, runs from October 5th to 10th.
A number of sub-committees, including a publicity, information and technology and finance, were set up to plan and implement activities leading up to the dates, as well as the actual events.
These groups will report to a lead committee headed by Minister of Agriculture Montgomery Daniel.
A number of activities are being planned leading up to the exhibition; these include a slogan contest, and various farming and fishing competitions. (JJ)
