St. Mary’s takes ‘Hats Off to Reading’

Students of the St Mary’s Roman Catholic School charmed their audience at the reading extravaganza held on the school grounds on Friday, February 29. {{more}}

The packed school hall was thrilled by performances from the Grade Six students who redid American Rap Star “Lil Mama’s” hit song “My lip gloss”. With waistlines swaying, the students chanted “My reading is popping. My reading is cool.”

In another rendition, they urged their listeners to “Read with me and we go have a party”.

The rhythmic sounds of the drums played by three students captivated many who were seen shaking away to the beat.

Teacher Deslyn Dember, in her opening remarks, stated that the Hats Off to Reading is an initiative of the Ministry of Education that is quite worthwhile. (VM)
