Specialist to address SVG Cancer Society AGM

The alarming increase in the incidence of cancer in the region will be the topic of discussion when the SVG Cancer Society hosts its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, February 27, 2008.{{more}}

The feature speaker at the event will be Dr. Carl Niamatali, who will speak on the topic “The Rising Tide of Cancer in Lower and Middle Income Countries in the Next Decade.” The address will discuss ‘the challenges and solutions’ to this dreaded problem.

Dr. Niamatali leads a Cancer programme in Grenada which is funded by Digicel. He comes to St. Vincent with the assistance of that company to assist in making available a better quality of service for persons suffering from the dreaded disease.

The members of the SVG Medical Association requested that Dr. Niamatali speak to them on the subject of the different types of Chemotherapy. The Cancer Specialist will share with his colleagues the methods as it relates to treatment of Breast and Prostate cancer.

The AGM takes place at the conference room of the Ministry of Health upstairs the Postal Services Corporation and begins at 5 o’clock on Wednesday, February 27, 2008.

Cancer patients, relatives and the general public are invited to this presentation. A new Executive will also be elected to serve the Society at this Meeting.
