US Agents assist in counterfeit detection

Law enforcement personnel and persons from various Financial Institutions in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be able to detect counterfeit currency much easier after being involved in a one day training workshop.{{more}}
Special Agents Miguel Coais and Anna Batalla of the United States Secret Service, who are in the country to give evidence in a counterfeit case, are facilitating the workshop.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop this morning, Commissioner of Police Keith Miller commended the persons from the financial institutions, which included the Kingstown Co-operative Credit Union, the National Commercial Bank, Scotia Bank, and the General Employeesâ Co-operative Credit Union, for taking advantage of the training.
Miller said the issue of counterfeit currency can cause significant damage to a countryâs economy, and for that reason it is important for everyone to get involved in the fight against crime. âWe have to be vigilant.
