Bequia in for two-week shaking
âBEQUIA ROCKSâ starts today and goes on until January 26th at Devilâs Table and Moskito Beach Bar on Bequia.
âBEQUIA ROCKSâ was born last January when acclaimed pop stars Daniel âMoneybrotherâ Lemma and Robert âFunky Manâ Sohlberg spent two weeks in Bequia writing music for their new albums and performed together with the band âBig Is Lessâ at the Devilâs Table Restaurant as part of their stay.{{more}}
The musicians had so much fun that they decided to buy a second home in Bequia. On his return to Europe, Moneybrother recorded and launched his new award winning record MOUNT PLEASURE. Grammy winner Daniel Lemma, who performs with his soulful and timeless music with a groove, launched his new album last month in Europe with songs he composed in Bequia.
Robert âFunky Manâ Sohlberg and Lars and Margit Abrahamsson, the proprietors of Devilâs Table and Friendship Bay Beach Resort, discussed the possibilities of having an annual cultural festival, and to invite entertainers, artists, and photographers from all over the world who love the relaxed and laid back ambience of St Vincent and the Grenadines. âBEQUIA ROCKS â was born.
This yearâs programme includes entertainers and artists from Canada, Los Angeles, Barbados, London and Sweden.
The Grand opening of âBEQUIA ROCKSâ takes place this evening, Friday, January 11th, and âFUNKY MANâ Robert Sohlberg performs live with his International cover band BIG IS LESS.
David Kirton and Jimmy âSenayahâ Haynes from Steel Pulse perform on Friday, January 18th, at Devils Table, and on Saturday night, the 19th, at Moskito beach bar at Friendship Bay Beach Resort.
Davidâs new album âTime for Changeâ and his hit song âGreen Camouflageâ are tops on the reggae charts right now. David, who was born in Barbados but lives in California, has toured all over the world, and Jimmy âSenayahâ Haynes is a spectacular lead guitar player who won a Grammy as the producer and band member of the reggae band Steel Pulse.
Bob Lanois is a great photographer, producer and entertainer from Canada. He recently released his new album Snake Road, produced his brother Daniel Lanois, master arranger and producer for U2 and Bob Dylan. The concert takes place at Devils Table on Monday, 14th January.
Songwriter and singer Daniel Lemma is a soul and R&B sensation who won a Grammy when he wrote the beautiful film music and the lead song âIf I used to love herâ for a European movie called JALLA JALLA. He will perform live at Devils Table on Tuesday, 15th of January, and at Moskito Beach Bar on Thursday, 17th of January, together with the âViking Goddessâ Eleonor from Sweden.
