No bravado for Movado in SVG?

Law enforcement officials here are considering banning Jamaican dance hall artiste David Constantine Brooks, who goes by the monikers “Movado” and the “Real McKoy”, from taking the stage in St.Vincent and the Grenadines on Saturday, January 19, 2008 – the date slated for his maiden show here. {{more}}

A usually reliable source told SEARCHLIGHT that the law enforcement officials are concerned that Movado, who sings fiery gangster lyrics, will be taking the stage here on the heels of a year when the country witnessed its highest murder count to date.

When contacted, Prime Minister Dr.Ralph Gonsalves and Minister of National Security, told SEARCHLIGHT the matter had not come to him, but he expected it would be raised in due course.

Dr. Gonsalves added that any artiste who comes to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to perform is given clear instructions of the law. He warned that the police are always ready to make an arrest once the law is breached.

Movado, who claims that he is dancehall’s “Gangsta fi Life” singer, hit it big and launched his career with the song ‘Real McKoy’ in 2004.
