Heritage Club celebrates 10 years

The 10th anniversary cocktail of the Community College Heritage Club was celebrated in fine style last weekend at the Prime Minister’s residence.

The evening served as an event to honour persons and organisations that assisted the club throughout the decade of their existence.{{more}}

Some of the organisations and persons honoured included: the General Employees Cooperative Credit Union, Chevron, C-Operations, Cims Martin, past principal of the College Marcus Caine, General Secretary of the UNESCO National Commission LaFleur John and founder of the club, Descima Hamilton.

Marcus Caine said that when the idea of the heritage club came to his attention in 1997, immediately he knew it was a great idea.

Caine said that the club has become more sophisticated over the years and urged the students to continue the good work.

The club is the oldest organisation at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College. The club has organized educational trips, and so far they have visited the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in St Lucia, the T.A Marryshow College in Grenada and the University of the West Indies St Augustine Campus.

This year’s president is Jimisha Roberts, an upper six student at the College. The first president of the club was Hawkins Nanton. (KW)
