Christmas celebrations launched

It was an almost perfect launching of 2007’s Christmas celebrations. If there was any doubt that this season is big in St Vincent and the Grenadines, last Sunday evening at Heritage Square put all doubts to rest.##m:[more]##

From the candle light march through Kingstown, to the soul stirring words of exaltation from Bishop Melch Pope, to the long list of performances of all types, the large, enthusiastic crowd was caught up, feeling the holiday vibes.

As he kicked off proceedings, Bishop Pope reminded all that the earthquake of the Thursday before bore testament that we are not in control of life and the world, and that God was the one who is in control. He further said that because the message of Christmas is Emmanuel: God is with us, confidence and putting faith in him could bring change to any situation that we face.

“If we connect with him, every impossibility will be made possible,” Bishop Pope said.

Treasurer of the Nine Mornings committee Lennox Bowan said that even as the Nine Mornings celebration is growing, the success that it is becoming did not come easy. He said that it took a group of dedicated persons, who were determined to revive the celebration, to get it to where it is.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves encouraged all citizens to generate the spirit of peace, love and forgiveness in their hearts, saying that peace must begin with each individual. (KJ)
