NBC raising funds to assist needy

The National Broadcasting Corporation is again seeking to raise funds to help needy people to defray the cost of their medical expenses overseas.{{more}}

This through the annual NBC Community Affair which will be staged this Saturday, 1st December, on the station’s compound.

The event, now into its 7th year, will be staged in two segments; a fair beginning at 3 p.m. followed by a parang competition and individual and group performances from 7 p.m.

Choirs from the Barrouallie Secondary, St.Clair Dacon Secondary, VINLEC and defending champion SVG Television will perform a parang piece, a carol and do a promotional speech about their institution or organisation.

Artistes scheduled to perform include Soca monarch, Delroy” Fireman” Hooper and the Bowman family which includes Lennox and Roland Bowman.

One of the highpoints of the show will be a presentation to Fireman and the Bowmans who have performed at every Community Affair since its inception.

Every year, NBC stages Community Affair in December and Love Boogie in February to raise funds for the Medical Fund, which has so far disbursed just over $44,000 to help Vincentians to get medical attention abroad.
