Jerry George, Digicel’s Corporate Communications Manager for the Eastern Caribbean, made the announcement last Friday, November 23rd, at a Christmas breakfast launch, held at Grenadines House Hotel.

George told the gathering of media workers that the Christmas promotion was his company’s way of ensuring that the customers had a chance to “get something.”

To qualify for the attractive sum of cash, a pre paid customer must buy a top up card valued $25 or more. The customer will get a scratch card, and can win instant prizes, including a radio back pack, a mini ‘boom’ box, or an mp 4 player. The scratched card is then entered into January’s main draw.

Post paid customers simply have to pay their bill on time to qualify for the draw and will also win prizes. Additionally, with the purchase of any handset this season, customers will receive $60 credit.

George said that Digicel is determined to “make Christmas dramatic” for its customers.

He said that since Digicel’s arrival on the market in March of 2003, the fear of telephone usage has disappeared, adding that innovations like per second billing, introduced by his company, helped to drive the cost of telecommunications down.

Digicel’s Christmas launch wasn’t all about a tasty breakfast, and a passionate speech by George; Santa Claus visited.

He was void of his reindeers so Santa opted to be escorted around town by the SVG Motorcycle Club instead, as

he distributed candies to onlookers. (KJ)
