Itâs all part of FirstCaribbeanâs 2007 Adopt-a-Cause programme and a follow-up to an initiative last year which saw First Caribbean assisting the Park Hill Government School in the establishment of its Library, through the construction of shelves and repairing of the room housing the library.
As a follow-up, and having recognized the need to promote the literacy of children in rural schools, FirstCaribbean funded the cost of the necessary tools and electronic equipment. In addition, staff volunteered their time to assist with cataloguing of the books. Staff also organized library skills training for one of the schoolâs teachers. This training is being coordinated through the Kingstown Public Library.
The entire project cost US2, 000 (EC5, 400), and items purchased include a computer, computer desk, printer, TV, DVD Player, Software and Books.
The equipment was handed over on Monday, October 29, 2007.
FirstCaribbean celebrated its fifth anniversary last month and has distinguished itself as a leading corporate entity with a demonstrated commitment to developing the region.
