Ministry hosts orientation workshop for teachers
The Ministry of Education continues to concentrate its efforts on the training of teachers throughout the system, and has collaborated with the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teachersâ Union for the fourth consecutive year to initiate teachers as they embark on their sojourn in the teaching profession.{{more}}
In this regard, therefore, forty-five (45) teachers in primary and secondary schools participated in the annual Orientation Workshop for new teachers on Monday, October 08, 2007, at the Red Cross Headquarters, Kingstown.
The following areas were explored: Introduction to the art of Teaching, Teacher Professionalism, the Education Act and Trade Unionism.
The sessions were facilitated by Clyde Fitzpatrick of the Division of Teacher Education of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, Joye Browne, a retired eminent Educator and Joy Matthews and Denniston Douglas Executive members of the SVG Teachersâ Union.
During the opening ceremony, the teachers heard remarks from Deputy CEO Luis DeShong.
