The Club is partnering with the Ministry of Education to ensure that the competition spans 9 zones throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and targets Grade 5 students of the various primary schools to encourage reading among this targeted group.

The Preliminary segment is scheduled to run from the 10th – 22nd October, 2007, with the Finals slated for the 3rd November, 2007. The finalists will be the top eight readers of the zones. The competition is jointly sponsored by The Mustique Company Ltd. and VINLEC.

This year, the LEO club raises awareness in the primary schools with relation to the importance of “Conserving Our Wildlife”. The topics for the reading passages focus on four aspects of this country’s wildlife, including our National Bird and Leather-back Turtles.

The LEO Club Reading Competition is the Signature Project of the LEO Club St. Vincent and has received good reviews over the years for the impact it has on the young children of the country.
