SVG Police Force gets four cash donations
The officers of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Royal Police will soon have the protection of brand new bulletproof vests thanks to several companies here.{{more}}
On Wednesday October 3, Police Commissioner Keith Miller received $2,000 from General Manager of Log Enterprises Linton Greaves, while Allan Smith of Allanâs Bakery and Ces Mckie of St Hill Insurance donated $10,000 each to help purchase the protective gear.
Commissioner Miller expressed gratitude for the contribution, which he noted would help officers carry out their duties more safely. The top cop pointed out that not only would officers be able to protect the citizens of this country, but the visitors as well.
The Police Force Band also received a musical boost to the tune of $11,000 worth of equipment from the National Lotteries Authority. Chairman Murray Bullock outlined that the donation included a drum machine, stage monitors, microphones and stands.
Band leader, Carlos Sampson was appreciative of the contributions made and said that this would help the 35 members of his band give a better quality sound especially when they perform for calypso tents and during the Christmas season.
In wrapping up, Commissioner Miller praised the various companies for their assistance and encouraged others to be generous to the Police Force since
their contribution was an investment in an institution that ensured the safety of not only their customers but their businesses as well. (SG)
