The cheque of EC$1000 was handed over to the Chief Operations Officer of House of Hope, Anita Nanton, by Jenella Bacchus, a representative of Blue Angels, at the society’s headquarters at Middle Street.

Earlier this year, the agency held a fund raising event in the form of a tea party entitled “Hats Off To Positive Behavioral Change,” focusing on stigma and discrimination.

In 2006, they conducted an awareness programme with the assistance of private and government institutions.

The project was funded by the Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV/AIDS (PANCAP).

According to Nanton, the donation will be used towards the operational and administrative operations of the society, as well as the training of volunteers.

The society assists persons who are terminally ill, and since its opening in 1999 has reached out to thousands of persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

The society will soon be embarking on a media campaign to raise further awareness of the disease in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.(JJ)
