The proceeds from these cultural performances far exceeded the target set by the Local Planning Committee. According to the PRO Jennifer Glasgow-Browne, they were able to raise $18,000 after clearing all expenses. “Gems and Friends” achieved its objective of being able to share this amount equally among six local organizations, each of which received $3000.00.

Cheques were presented to the following six local organizations by Irma Dougan, Chairperson of the Local Planning Committee on Tuesday, 4th September, 2007, on behalf of the Steel Orchestra: The National Society of Persons with Disabilities, The St.Vincent Children’s Welfare Fund, The House of Hope Society, The School for Children with Special Needs, The Girls’ High School Sick Bay Project, The St.Vincent and the Grenadines National Trust. The management of “Gems and Friends” Steel Orchestra wish to thank all those persons who gave them such tremendous support and made their tour of St.Vincent a successful one.
