Jones, speaking at the opening of their upgraded Network Operations Centre in Barbados last week, said that the facility, which is one of only three in the world, is just another way of giving the region the best networking system in the world.
Jones indicated that as technologies progress, customer demand will increase and Cable & Wireless aims to be there all the way.
According to Jones, his company recognizes that broadband is the future of the fixed line network, hence one of the reasons that the speed in most countries has been increased to 1 megabit.
Head of Cable & Wireless Americas and Caribbean Chris Hetherington said that the upgraded NOC will increase efficiency, and this will lead to faster speeds, lower rates and happier customers.
The upgraded NOC is expected to bring the region up to the standard of other areas in the world, which would benefit both the customers and the company.
The other two NOCs are found in Panama and Macau, China. (JJ)
