New water treatment plant to opens

After three years construction at a cost of $23 million dollars, the new water plant located in the Jennings valley on the windward end of the island, is expected to take some âpressureâ off the Dalloway plant situated in the Vermont valley.{{more}}
The station will supply water to as far south as the Diamond Diary Estate, feeding through areas such as Calder, Greggs, Carapan, Cedars and New Adelphi.
The plant consists an intake, a sedimentation tank, two slow sand filters, a chlorination station unit and a 500,000 gallon storage tank.
A number of catchment tanks have been built to facilitate the new station, which is designed to treat just over one million gallons of water per day.
An official opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday September 18th, with full operations to begin soon after. (JJ)
