Ministry hosts three- day tourism workshop
The Ministry of Tourism, Youth & Sports continued its series of training programmes for partners in the Tourism sector this week.{{more}}
A three-day session, geared towards the Public Health Department, was held from September 11th-13th, 2007, at the Ministry of Tourismâs Conference Room at the Cruise Ship Terminal.
Since August 24, the Ministry of Tourism has been conducting a series of Human Resources Development Programmes, with the objective of improving the quality and efficiency of service in this sector and fostering a better working relationship with persons whose duties relate to or impact directly on the tourism industry in St. Vincent & the Grenadines
The first workshop was held for Media Workers, who discussed accurate reporting, the current trend of reporting, and its impact and consequences on the image of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The second workshop was held from August 28th-30th for frontline staff: hotels, bars and restaurants. In attendance were a total of 21 participants, mainly from hotels, guesthouses and restaurants on St. Vincent and Bequia. Two students from the St. Josephâs Convent Marriaqua also attended the sessions. Some of the topics covered were service, communication, telephone etiquette, difficult customers, stress management and HIV/AIDS within the hospitality industry.
Other sessions are planned for Tour Guides, Taxi and Bus Drivers and other Industry workers.
