The Bursary Award Ceremony, held at the Teachersâ Coop Credit Union Headquarters on Tuesday, August 28, awarded $38,000 among 21 members to assist them with their University education.
The programme, which started seven years ago, has since awarded a total of $200,000 to over 100 members.
Speaking at the ceremony, President of the SVUTCCU Curtis King congratulated the recipients, stating that their presence signals a commitment to their personal development.
He urged students to âalways pursue excellenceâ, as their success encourages the Union to continue with the Bursary Award programme. He also urged members to continue to contribute to the Union, as it increases surplus, which in turn increases the value and quantity of the bursaries awarded.
The SVUTCCU awarded 30 students earlier this month for outstanding performances in the Common Entrance Examinations. These ceremonies, according to the President, show their dedication, as they are going beyond their theme of âall members have special value.â
