The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. in the Mount Wynne area as the group was traveling to Chateaubelair from Kingstown.

Fredericks told SEARCHLIGHT that as they were driving past the junction that leads to the beach, a dark coloured four-door Suzuki Escudo sped up as if to overtake them, then one of the four men inside opened fire. He said that about six shots were fired, two penetrated the SVU.

Eighteen-year-old “Quarzan” of Redemption Sharpes was shot in his right arm, about six inches above the wrist. He was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Fredericks said the two women and three men had to exit the vehicle and run for cover, after which the gunmen drove off.

The Rapid Response Unit (RRU) and officers from the Barrouallie Police Station quickly arrived on the scene. The SUV was taken to the Barrouallie Police Station, where police are carrying out investigations into the matter.

Four months ago, shots were fired upon that same SUV, PN300, in the Rillan Hill area. Fredericks was not in the vehicle at the time.
