The programme, which aims to assist youths as they enter the job market, began on Monday 20th.

The ceremony featured four lively group presentations, performed by the participants of the training course. The presentations were based on what was learnt during the course, including aspects of money management, workplace etiquette and personal development.

Errol Allen, president of the East Caribbean Institute of Banking (ECIB) and a facilitator of the programme, stated that he was pleased with the performances, saying it was “excellent role play” and well thought out performances.

Allen, who also gave the closing remarks, stated that the participants should always try to achieve their purpose, and that continuous study and advancement are important.

Jeranda Davis and Raquel Frederick were awarded for their outstanding performance during the course. They were each presented with $250, donated by the Rotary Club of St. Vincent and the ECIB, respectively.

Frederick, a top performer in this year’s A’level examinations, shared her experiences, stating that she was enlightened and that she was “thoroughly impressed with the facilitators who were professional in their approach and their teaching.”

As for Davis, she expected much as she kept an open mind throughout the one-week course. “I got more than I expected,” she stated. Jeranda also feels that she is now well prepared for the workplace. She recalled the advice of the facilitators that the world of work is not only about academics but aptitude and attitude.

Over 25 students graduated from the programme and received certificates of achievement.

Also in attendance were Rotary Club of St. Vincent representative, Andre Codogan, Local co-ordinator of the ECIB Cheryl Rodriguez, and Dawn Small who represented the National Insurance Service, sponsors of the YES training programme.(OS)
