Though 24-year-old Julien Pierre of Lowmans Leeward is thankful to be alive, he suffered multiple bruises to his arms, face and neck as well as damage to his spine.
A relative, speaking to SEARCHLIGHT on the condition of anonymity, said the accident which occurred on Friday, August 10, has left Pierre lifeless from the chest down.
âHis gloves got pinched in the machine and the machine pulled him in and threw him out on the other side,â said the relative, adding, âHis small finger on the left hand was amputated.â
SEARCHLIGHT made several attempts to contact Michael Persaud, General Manager of East Caribbean Metals/Plastic Industries on the matter, but these proved futile.
At press time Wednesday, efforts were being made to have Pierre seek medical attention in Barbados. (HN)
