The games, which were scheduled to begin on Wednesday with the football competition, will run until September 31st.
The gamesâ opening was however hampered by the rains which fell over the last few days, making the Richmond Hill Playing Field unusable and unsafe for players. Some matches were therefore rescheduled.
Apart from football, public servants in the various ministries will be involved in a number of activities, including softball cricket, table tennis, netball, volleyball and dominoes.
Minister of the Public Service Selmon Walters, in addressing the press conference, said that the games were being held, to among other things, boost morale among employees and ministries, which will in effect enhance productivity, efficiency and service delivery.
He encouraged all able-bodied public servants to take part in the games, of which the Ministry of National Security are the defending champions.
The Inter-Ministerial games are usually a build up to Public Service Week, which is scheduled to take place from October 7th to 13th.
A number of events are down to take place during that week of activities, including a church service, customer appreciation day and a mock parliament. (JJ)
