OECS nationals head credit union bodies

Julian Jack, Treasurer of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Credit Union League and Manager of The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers’ Credit Union has been elected President of the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions (CCCU).{{more}}

Jack was elected at the 50th Annual International Convention and 36th Annual General Meeting of the Confederation on July 8th – 15th 2007. Jack is the first Director from within the OECS to hold such a prestigious position in CCCU.

The Convention brought together credit union representatives from eighteen (18) English Speaking Caribbean Territories including St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Following on the heels of the CCCU Convention was the convening of the conference of the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU). On this occasion, Melvin Edwards, a national of St. Kitts and Nevis and CCCU Director was elected President of WOCCU.

It is the first time in the history of the Credit Union movement that an OECS National has been elected to such a prestigious office.
