The Children’s Library Annual Summer Programme (CLASP)

On Friday 27th July Loyal Bank Limited donated 171 children’s reading books to the Children’s Library Annual Summer Programme (CLASP) as well as 150 children’s T-shirts to promote the work of CLASP and good reading habits in general amongst young children in St. Vincent.

CLASP aims to inculcate a love of reading amongst children, to stimulate creativity and to help overcome reading problems that might deter children from reading regularly. CLASP operates from 9:30 am to 3:00pm including a 15-minute snack lunch and the programme includes field trips to historic, cultural and educational sites around St. Vincent each summer.

About 140 children aged between 7 and 14 regularly benefit from the activities of CLASP and teachers as well as Peace Corps volunteers conduct the morning sessions. The evening sessions are conducted by Children’s Library staff and student volunteers.

Loyal Bank Limited is the largest and longest established international private bank in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and received the first offshore banking license ever issued in St. Vincent, License 1BK 1997, on 16th December 1997.
