On Saturday, viewers will be able to recapture some of the excitement, intrigue and drama of the last season when Kyron Baptiste emerged the winner in convincing fashion. The introductory show will air on SVG-TV at 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 11.
The first ten contestants vying for the title of Digicel Rising Star 2007 will be from the auditions held in Barbados. Their performances will be aired on SVGTV at 8 p.m. Sunday evening as would all other show performances.
âFrom the auditions we have had, we are anticipating the unearthing of another exciting Caribbean musical talent in this the third year of the competition,â said Mr. Errol McGlothan, Digicelâs Director of Marketing for the Eastern Caribbean, âsomeone who could possibly surpass last yearâs winnerâ, Kyron Baptiste.
âDigicel Rising Stars provides excellent family television entertainment and over the last two years has dominated Sunday evening time television programming and we anticipate that this the third season would be no less attractive, no less exciting,â McGlothan said.
Following the showing of the performances of the ten finalists each week for the next few weeks the general public will vote and select the two contestants who will go forward to the live shows to be hosted in Barbados.
For the first time anyone with a mobile phone service, irrespective of the provider will be able to vote for their favorite contestant. At the end of each performance, the contestant will be given a unique four digit number to which their supporters can text or call to register their vote. The two contestants accumulating the greatest number of votes will go forward to the next round.
The Show will once again be hosted by Barbadian TV presenter Belle Holder. The same panel of Judges from last year will again adjudicate and give guidance to the contestants. They are Barrister Vynette âVinnie Vâ Frederick, Antiguan radio personality Algernon âSerpentâ Watt, and sound engineer Wayne âCoolâ Simmons.
