Blue Waters flowing again
After months of extensive repair and upgrading, North Leewardâs premiere nightclub, Blue Waters Entertainment Centre (BWEC) opened its doors for dancing last Saturday night{{more}}.
In February of this year, the lounge section of the split level building collapsed after receiving heavy pounding from the surf during two weeks of rough seas. At the time, club owner Joel âRas Nattyâ Francois said that he would be back and his words are now reality.
Saturdayâs event featured the Blowout Crew, Touch Down Massive and Dem Boyz; a new promotions group that includes Junior Jarvis, Colin Graham and Fugitive. Music was provided by the Pan Yard International Sound system.
Francois told SEARCHLIGHT that the collapsed section had to be removed and gabion baskets were planted to reinforce the foundation. Concrete columns were also planted and an extra 200 square feet of space was added making the lounge more spacious.
Francois said that he is catering for more family oriented activities, conferences and tradeshows at his establishment. âI want persons to have clean, wholesome fun at Blue Watersâ, he said.
BWEC was opened in December 2002; its interior was designed by Vincentian international artist and designer Caswell Samuel. Francois was a popular Deejay in the late 70âs, up to the mid 80âs. He is the younger brother of St. Clair Robinson, proprietor of the Aquatic Club. Saturdayâs event kicked off what is hoped to be a slamming summer which will include barbeques and beach parties.
