BCCU makes life easier for parents of 12 students

Saturday, July 21, 2007 was a historic day for the Barrouallie Co-operative Credit Union (BCCU) as some of the burden was removed from the shoulders of twelve (12) members whose children were successful at the Common Entrance Examination. Although this is the 9th year that BCCU has given bursaries to successful students, it is the first time that the number of bursaries has gone beyond one digit.{{more}}

At the ceremony held at the BCCU Conference Room, Junior Adams, Kish Anderson, Akeem Davis, Avian Priam, Finton Findlay, Arran Williams and Shakeem James, whose parents are members and Jexnika Grant, Adrian Griffith, Edford Davis Jr, Kasaini Culzac, from the Youth Comprehensive Fund received their packages. There were eight males and three females.

Addresses were delivered by representatives of the Board of Directors and the Credit Union League who encouraged students to make the best use of the time they spend at the Secondary School and see it as the stepping stone to further educational opportunities.

Ludeth Culzac, a parent, thanked the Credit Union for the interest it is showing in education. She laid to rest the misconceptions that some people have about Credit Unions when asked to become members.
