Dates announced for Vincy Mas 2008
Vincentians and visitors have just under a year to prepare for the next edition of Vincy Mas.
Minister of Culture Rene Baptiste announced the dates for the 2008 installment last Saturday at the Carnival Development Corporationâs (CDC) prize giving ceremony which took place at the Cruise Ship Terminal in Kingstown.{{more}}
Carnival is scheduled to kick off officially on May 3 with the grand launch which usually takes place at the Chamber of commerce Car Park.
This will be followed by the Miss SVG Pageant on May 31.
June 27 to July 8 is the date for the 12 days of festivities, which will include the Soca Monarch , Miss Carival, calypso semifinals, Mas on the Move, Dimanche Gras, Mardi Gras and Jâouvert and Monday Jump Up.
The final dates for some of the events have not been released.
The rural carnivals take place on the weekends following the May 3 launching, and there has not been any final word yet on the Super Jamz Fete, which usually takes place following the launch. (JJ)
