Bishop Rivas appointed Coajutor in St. Lucia
The Most Rev. Robert Rivas O.P., Bishop of Kingstown has been appointed as Coadjutor Archbishop of Castries by Pope Benedict XVI. This was announced on Thursday, July 19.{{more}}
His Grace, Archbishop Rivas will be presented to the people of God in the Archdiocese of Castries, St. Lucia, and take up his new duties with a celebration of a solemn liturgy at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Sunday, October 14, 2007.
With effect from Thursday, July 19, 2007, Coadjutor Archbishop Rivas will be the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Kingstown pending the appointment of a bishop of Kingstown.
His Grace has appointed Fr. Pio Atonio, MF as his delegate in Kingstown effective July 19, 2007. The Delegate will be his resident representative in the day to day administration of the diocese of Kingstown effective October 15, 2007.
Coadjutor Archbishop Rivas is the founding Bishop of the Diocese of Kingstown.
