In a press conference held at the Ministry of Tourism Conference room on Monday, the Minister encouraged organisations like the Girl Guides and the Boy Scouts to work with the media to make themselves more accessible and known to the public.

He said that the Youth Department in his ministry has done a lot, but lack of communication with the media makes their efforts seem diminished. The ministry he said, is in the process of implementing a programme aimed at young men to help with their development, focusing on their dress, communication, attitude and more.

Speaking of the National Youth Awards, Beache stated that “When we are celebrating youth and giving them awards for the different things that they’ve accomplished, I think we need to make it better than it was”. He suggested the possibility of a formal dinner and said that there would be new criteria, and expansion of categories, and not just education, but to encompass all things that youth are involved with.
